Laid-Back Mountain Loop: Marshall Pass

Marshall Pass is a gravel road that can be enjoyed by all likes of adventurers! A short 20 minute drive from Salida, this route is perfect for first time riders & folks looking for a more relaxing ride. You will travel through aspens, pines, and timberline on this easy-going route. As you approach the top of the pass there will be restrooms on the right side of the road. Nearby you can explore a historic cattlemen’s cabin ( perfect place for a picnic lunch )! Venture onward and turn left on Poncha Creek Rd (203). This part of the trail is rutted in places and can get slippery when wet, so take it at a slower pace. You will loop back onto Marshall Pass Rd (200) where you will take a right. Follow the road back down to the Shirley Trailhead and Parking Site.

This loop is about 20 miles long ( 3-5 hours ).
