Mountain UTV rentals

If you’re feeling like you’ve been cooped up too long, come explore the Colorado backcountry trails near Salida, CO. Some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world are just a short drive away off US Highway 50. Bigfoot Adventure Rentals has two Polaris models available as mountain UTV rentals: the RZR XP 1000 for two people, or the Ranger Crew 1000 for parties of up to six. With half-day and full-day rentals, you can enjoy a fun few hours or an entire day, at your own pace. We are still in the middle of the season, so give us a call at (719) 221-8242 to make reservations.

Differences between UTV and ATV

While ATVs are controlled with handlebars, UTVs drive more like automobiles, with pedals and a steering wheel. A UTV (“utility terrain vehicle”) is intended to be driven off-road on difficult terrain where a truck is impractical. UTVs are intended to carry supplies in remote locations, so there is plenty of space for anything you want to bring with you on your tour.

The Salida, CO area

amateurs. Salida is a small town of 5,000 people, southwest of Denver, which was founded in 1881. It is on the banks of the Arkansas River. There are over a dozen trails to explore that weave through mountains and trees.

The Rainbow Trail

The longest off-road vehicle trail in Colorado is the Rainbow Trail. It is a 177-mile long loop trail that winds to the southeast of Salida. The Rainbow Trail has a difficult rating, but the traffic is fairly light most days. Dogs are also permitted on the trail.

Marshall Pass

Once the location of a railroad, Marshall Pass is a 13.6-mile long, point to point trail. This trail is only rated at moderate difficulty, but the gravel trail could make driving challenging for beginning UTV drivers. Dogs are also allowed to use this trail, as long as they stay on a leash.

Some preparation recommendations

  • – Charge your phone to 100% before going out onto the trail.
  • – Dress for cold weather: layered clothes, closed-toed shoes, gloves, hats, and coats.
  • – Bring bottled water and snacks. Yeti coolers are available to rent starting at $20 for a full day.
  • – Wear sunscreen and bring chapstick.
  • – Helmets will be provided with your rental; please wear them. We want all of our guests to have fun and stay safe.
